Morfeus
History
Founders of the company Edgardo Rossi and Nerina Pagnoni started their craft activity in 1955. They were mainly involved in carpet weaving, manufacturing and refurbishment of both wool and horsehair mattresses. Soon the production of modern springs mattresses begun. In 1962 it started up its “Morfeus Good Sleep” project, arising from a specific company philosophy: putting the Person with his or her individual sleep needs at the centre of the picture. The Company has, over the years, carefully pursued its project through consultancies with top Ergonomics and Scientific Sleep Research Institutes, for testing and quality.
The result is a range where each product (mattress, bed base, bed, accessory) is inspired by the ideal model of a person – a unique sample to which reference is made for specific technical solutions, high quality materials and maximum care in manufacturing processes.
On 1964 the development of activity led to the construction of a first modern industrial plant of about 4,000 sq. m.. Since 1975 the company’s headquarters has been located in modern industrial, covered premises of 12,000 sq. m. at Tavoleto, in the Pesaro hinterland, with technologically advanced installations, in some cases created to order according to specific company requirements. At the present moment the company is managed by the second (Giuliano and Gilberto Rossi) and third generation (Matteo and Luca Rossi).
Partnership with designers
Morfeus has a long tradition of collaborations with designers and artists. In 2007 the project “Design Mattress Morfeus” was born: since then, the best designers in the world are studying for Morfeus innovative products in terms of conception and design, and are creating a deep technical discontinuity with both the past and the present. Pininfarina, Roberto Semprini, Karim Rashid and Front Design have signed successful products for the company.
Made in Italy
Since 1962 Morfeus helps people to live better, every day bringing in their lives the well-being and joy which come from sleeping on the most beautiful mattress in the world.
Thanks to its enormous wealth of knowledge and experience, but also with the support of major Ergonomics, Scientific Research on Sleep and testing laboratories, as well as designers internationally renowned, the company produces mattresses, pillows and sleeping systems increasingly advanced in terms of materials, technologies and design employed.
Morfeus products are entirely manufactured in Italy: Morfeus is the first company in the sector to have obtained the Certification of Italian Origin (Made in Italy) for its mattresses.
Morfeus products are made by highly experienced and professional workers, in factories organized according to the ISO 9001 quality management system standards that put the consumer at the center of the design.
The materials used are of absolute quality, with controlled and guaranteed hygiene and safety.
Quality mattresses, safe and certificated LOW EMISSION
Morfeus received the prestigious “Qualitas Premium” certification for its mattresses, issued by the international certification authority ‘Cosmob Spa’. The mattress bearing the label “Materasso di Alta Qualità Certificata Qualitas Premium”, ensure the consumer that the product is:
• Periodically subjected to durability and measurement tests according to the standards UNI EN 1334 – 1957 – 10707: tests are made first at 30.000 cycles as laid down by international and national rules and then extended to 45.000 cycles to provide greater guarantees in terms of product durability;
• Safe for the user’s health, since emits no formaldehyde or VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds – test ISO 16000- 9:2006) and for fabrics do not contain allergy-producing colorings and carcinogenic (test UNI EN ISO 16373-2 Textiles)
• 100% Made in Italy: Entirely manufactured in our facilities in Italy, organized and controlled according to standard UNI EN ISO 9001
Mattresses certified as “Medical Devices”
Many mattresses of Morfeus range of products are classified as “Medical devices” (Directive 93/42/CEE dated 14.06.1993) and are included in the category of medical prosthesis ‘Nomenclatore Tariffario delle Protesi’ (D.M. 332/99), as they could help people with certain diseases. On the basis of the tax legislation currently in force, those fulfilling the necessary can obtain the tax deduction as health expenditure (art. 15 letter c paragraph 1 of D.P.R. 917/86.

That is why all the products we design and develop comply with those requirements of Morfeus “Green Philosophy”, that is:
● Organic and natural material, largely derived from essential oils and fast-growing plants;
● Safe production plant, highly controlled and at low environmental impact throughout all stages of production;
● Low natural resources consumption with regard to materials employed and production processes;
● Low environmental impact in both the factory and production processes;
● Full recyclability of materials and products at the end of the life cycle.

Why sleeping on Morfeus mattresses is a guarantee of health, quality and respect for the environment?
Healthy and safe for users
Specific tests have certified that it has no formaldehyde emissions or VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and that the fabrics are free from allergens and carcinogenic substances. All adhesives used are “water based” and do not leave residues or odours.
Durability
Morfeus mattresses are subjected to durability tests on a regular basis. For this test, a 140 kg roller is passed over the mattress 30,000 times (to simulate 10 years of use) and then up to 45,000 times (to simulate 15 years of normal use). A Morfeus mattress needs to demonstrate its ability to last.
Maintenance of body support
This measurement is carried out after the durability test to asses support even after 15 years. The mattress needs to be able to support the body even after the guaranteed durability.
Breathability for maximum hypoallergic protection
A Morfeus mattress is built to be extremely breathable at all times so that by favouring a smaller build up of moisture, it prevents the formation of liquid or mould that could damage the mattress and maintain the anti-moisture and anti-mite characteristics over time.

When it comes to materials, the supply chain and main production processes, the product complies with the principles and requirements of the Morfeus “Green Philosophy” to protect the environment and leave a better world for those who will come after us.
Technology and materials
Silver Far Yarn fabric
The products of the Fluxair collection exclusively use the Silver Far Yarn fabric, a yarn characterized by a combination of polypropylene and other elements, ionized minerals of different nature and species which interact with each other to release FAR rays and contribute to improving the quality of people’s lives. Infrared rays produced by hot bodies, and in particular far-infrared rays, have therapeutic properties a particular FIR or FAR wavelength. Silver Farn Yarn fabric is hypoallergenic, antistatic, and thermoregulation.
Aquacell
Exclusive water- and biopolymer-based polyurethane will breath with every move the body makes, thanks to the ultra-breathable open-cell structure. It molds perfectly to the body for a correct posture and relaxing night’s sleep; it is also cool and healthy because the open-pore structure wicks away moisture and dissipates heat with every movement of the body. Aquacell is eco-friendly (CFC free), hypoallergenic, and safe for health because it does not emit formaldehyde or toxic volatile agents (Cosmos Qualitas Materassi Low Emission certification). FluxAir exclusively uses: Aquacell Essence M.A.C.: special quality and superior ergonomic performance; Aquacell Essence Evo: soft and super elastic, thanks to the addition of a certain percentage of latex to the mix
Vortex 2x3D fabric
The study of aerodynamic flows from the outside to the inside, and over the surface of the mattress has made it possible to boost air turnover and create an optimum microclimate in every season. To boost this process, the mattresses in the Fluxair collection have been covered with special 3D fabrics with excellent breathability. The special, exclusive hypoallergenic Vortex 2x3D fabric used on the breathable sides of FluxAir mattresses, adds to and enhances the characteristics of two innovative 3D fabrics: inside, the first high-density 3D fabric (known as Airy3D Turbo) captures and extracts every residue of heat and moisture from the mattress, wicking it into the second, outer 3D fabric, which has a lower density (known as Vortex) and eliminates them instantly. With Vortex 2x3D, sleep will be cool, dry, hygienic, safe and controlled over time.
Intelligent Temperature
Control F-One Thermogel Memory filling
This is an evolved visco-memory filling with millions of nanospheres in thermo-active gel that as well as being soft and gentle on contact with the skin, also thermo-actively stabilises the body temperature throughout sleep. During the deep sleep phases, when the body temperature is higher, the gel nanospheres become thermo active, storing up heat and cooling the skin. The captured heat is then gradually restored to the skin from the nanospheres during the REM stage of sleep, when the body is at its coolest. Thanks to the thermo-active properties of F-One ThermoGel Memory, the beneficial regenerative and circulation boosting processes of the BioCeramic SilverSave fabric are active throughout sleep and not only for a small part of it, as on normal mattresses.
D-Tech 2.0 System
Thermal energy for wellbeing D-Tech 2.0 System is the exclusive system that triggers a high-efficiency exchange of heat between the BioCeramic SilverSave fabric and the F-One ThermoGel Memory filling, modulated according to body temperature. The synergy of the special mix of bioceramic ions in the fabric and the thermo-active gel nanospheres in the filling, provide constant heat energy to the body, which activates the regenerating, anti-oxidant and circulation-boosting processes throughout sleep. The result is a superior state of mental and physical wellness that will last over time.
